What does the name Spekbos mean?
Spekbos is a succulant plant that grows only in the Little Karoo and survives on very little water and needs little nutrients to grow.
The Spekbos plant grows very slowly and due to this produces more oxygen than most plants.
Even the Bushman recognized the healing properties of this remarkable tree. It is a very affective remedy against the common cold and during dry periods, serves as a source of water by chewing on the leaves.

Warum Spekbos ?
------------------
Why Spekbos?
We would like to establish an umbrella organisation under which we would then combine all of our activities. We still have big plans for the future!
Why NPO?
As an NPO it simplifies the process of raising funds and asking for financial assistance from other companies and organisations. We also now have the right to issue receipts that is also recognized by the tax office. All of our projects have been running off sponsorship funds for years and we decided that it was time for a different approach.
